Ducks
Aylesbury
The Aylesbury is a large breed duck with all white with a pale pink bill, orange feet, and white skin. This non-flying breed originated in England and is now listed as critical as purebreds are extremely hard to find.
Pekins
The Pekins were originally imported from China and are now the most common domestic duck in this country. They are fairly large, good egg layers and solidly built making them perfect to raise for meat.
White Crested
The White Crested Duck is a classic breed that has been around since the 1660s. They resemble the Aylesbury but are much more common. They make an excellent utility bird (eggs and meat). They are also hardy and easy to manage, making them a great addition to any backyard or homestead flock.
Black Crested
This old breed of duck is pure black in color with dark gray feet and bill. They are utilitarian farm ducks. Laying well over 100 eggs per year and produce excellent meat. They are also hardy and easy to manage, making them a great addition to any backyard or homestead flock.
Silver Appleyards
Silver Appleyards are a large, "blocky" duck that features multicolored feathers. This breed is very easy-going, friendly, and grows rapidly. They are an excellent egg producer laying well over 200 per year.
Cayuga
A native New Yorker, the Cayuga Duck is the hardiest of all domestic breeds that can tolerate the most extreme weather condition. They are mid-sized and almost black in color. They are raised primarily as egg layers and an excellent meat source.
Rouens
The Rouen is a large breed of duck that resembles the mallard in color and shape. Being poor egg layers they are mostly raised for their abundant, delicately flavored flesh yet mature very slowly.
Exhibition Rouens
Exhibition Rouens are large ducks that resemble the mallard in color and shape. When showing, look for vigor, strong legs, large size, good body length, deep keels that are straight and level, horizontal body carriage, and proper color markings.
Blue Swedish
The Blue Swedish duck is a medium size utility breed that matures slowly yet has fine, well flavored meat. They are named for their blue tinted head and body. Typically they have calm temperaments making them fine pets and companions.

Campbell

Buff
The Buff duck is a fairly rare medium-sized breed that resulted from a mix of numerous other breeds. They are an attractive dual-purpose bird that produces large amounts of eggs and also very good meat.
Saxony
Bred in the 1930’s by combining Rouen, German Pekin, and Blue Pomeranian ducks the Saxony is a large multi colored duck that resembles a mallard. Although slow to mature they are excellent egg layers and produce meat with great flavor and low fat.

The Black East Indies Duck is a mid-sized breed with striking plumage. Being a fairly poor egg layer this bird is mainly kept for ornament and for an exhibition.
Magpie
Magpie Ducks are medium sized, mainly white, birds with long bodies. Magpies are good layers of eggs and produce meat is of gourmet quality.
